Style: The Slipper Edit.

by

In any other year, around this time I would be putting a Christmas partywear post together, but as we all know by now, 2020 is not just any other year. So this post couldn’t be further from partywear I’m afraid but I can promise you maximum comfort instead. While the only suit I’ve been rocking this year is the tracksuit, aside from walking boots, wellies and indeed running trainers, the only other footwear I have been maxing out on is the humble slipper and I’m sure I’m far from alone. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, on these hideously wet days we’ve been experiencing I’d far rather be slipping on a slipper and curling up indoors (preferably watching The Crown) than bracing myself for the elements outside.

Teamed with the right outfit, the perfect slipper is the sartorial cherry on top of the cake and let’s be honest, it seems appropriate that we may as well dress comfortably for what has been one of the most uncomfortable years of our lives.

Daisy and I were very kindly gifted the Just Sheepskin slippers in the main picture above and they have been my go to destination for slippers for years. They are so cosy and I wear them into the ground. I’ve decorated rooms in them and been really quite tough on them and I’m always impressed how they survive every time. I also have a pair from Mint Velvet that I picked up in January this year (en route to a weekend away with my husband – I made him take a detour much to his annoyance!) that I often get asked about whenever I post them on Instagram. I’m also partial to wearing a sock with them too but I know that is the equivalent of fashion marmite – people either agree or are horrified with me.

Anyway, whether you wear with a sock or without, gone are the days of the novelty slipper and the High Street is awash with slippers that will positively complement your outfit now, so here’s my edit of the best available at the moment. Go on, treat your feet, you’ll certainly get price per wear out of them in the current climate.
