The reasons for this post were twofold; the primary reason being that the nicer weather meant I could finally bring out my old favourite side stripe wide leg trousers, and the second simply because everywhere I go I’m seeing side stripes…
A stripe is often a popular choice at this time of year, as is a polka dot or two and it’s easy to understand why. Easy to wear, fun, a subtle way of injecting colour all while giving a nod to the impending sunshine and warmer days.
More recently though the side stripe has been enjoying the main stage and for good reason. Whether you opt for one, two or a handful of stripes, when placed vertically, they will lengthen that part of body and therefore cannot fail to flatter. So, in my case, a stripe down the side of my otherwise vertically challenged leg will give the illusion that they are in fact longer than they look. Add a pair of heels into the mix and ta dah it’s fashion magic! You can see why I was so thrilled to get these trousers back out.
Since buying these trousers last year, I’ve spied the stripe gracing the sides of dresses, coats and tops aplenty so I’ve been inspired to put together an edit of the best styles available now…
