‘P’ is for Personalised…

by

I am a big fan of personlisation. You could stamp a plastic bag with my initials and I would be over the moon. Naturally my love for a personal piece has filtered down to Daisy now, not that she is aware of it, so she has a truck load of pieces including her customised denim jacket (read the post about it here) that already fill her room and wardrobe.

Recently I was very kindly sent one of my most favourite personalised pieces to date, a pair of trainers featuring my initials! Unfortunately the monogrammed versions won’t be available to buy from White Stuff (I really think they should) but the trainers are and they are rather lovely too.

The loveliness of a personalised piece is that it’s just for you, no one else, it makes the item so special as it shows a level of thoughtfulness – I always try to get personal gifts for people if I can. It doesn’t have to be your own initial or name either, there’s also something heartwarming about wearing the initials of a loved one and since becoming a mummy I wear a necklace with a D, L (Mr Style & Substance) and C on it.

Far from being alone on this one, the craze for stamping your name on items has spread far and wide. There are plenty of brands that offer monogramming online and the High Street is awash with alphabet and typography ranges. A personalised item doesn’t have to be extravagant, indeed the more simple or practical the better in some cases. For instance, Mon Breton, a young brand I stumbled upon on Instagram a while ago offer a monogram service on their classic breton tops and if like me you’re a die-hard fan of the sailor stripy top this is the ultimate. I’ve also been eyeing up another Insta-favourite Say What You C who sell oversized tote bags emblazoned with your initials – perfect for lugging about all my baby essentials.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner (nudge nudge, wink wink), I have put together some beautiful and affordable personalised gift suggestions for your Mummy or for a treat for yourself – because once it’s personalised it’s for you and only you after all …
