Who’d have thought looking backwards would be the new forward?! First it was Alexa who had a rummage through M&S’s archives and unearthed some gems and now it’s the turn of Gap. Delving back through their history they’ve thrown it back to the 90’s and released the best of their iconic pieces. As a child of the 90’s (a very small one for the record) there are some things that are best left in that era but I can happily confirm this collection is not one of them…
The mere fact that Naomi Campbell can rock the same shorts and t-shirt some twenty odd years later (granted she is a supermodel and can make a bin bag look chic) is perhaps testament to the classic timeless nature of this range. Fronting the campaign with the kids of some very famous faces the pictures harp back to the old school simple and effective adverts we all remember Gap for.
Now if you are looking for bold statement making stand-out-from-the-crowd items this range will not dazzle you. This collection is all about simple colours and cuts, something that is certainly close to my heart. Navy, grey, monchrome, khaki and some flashes of colour such as red for good measure. These are the pieces a sturdy wardrobe is built upon – the go-with-everything pieces that you will wear time and time again. While the year in terms of trends and fashion is still seasonably young these are the items you can totally justify buying as they will certainly earn their keep.
Hero items such as the flat fronted chinos are back so are hoodies, high neck sleeveless vests and bodies for the brave amongst us who are willing. I have picked my favourites from the range and it was no mean feat as it is an extensive range. Available online here and in larger flagship stores I can guarantee this range won’t be there for long so get clicking!
