Well if ever there was a season better suited to the cardigan, that time is now. Cold and fresh in the morning but mild by lunchtime, I’ve learned (the hard way, I might add) the lightweight buttoned knitwear is the only thing to reach for during these confused weather times. I’ve long enjoyed a longer length cardigan especially on the weekends and at home, but this season I’ve broadened my scope to the newer model that’s all over the high street – the boxy, cropped version complete with chunky buttons.
Since returning to work, I have really enjoyed building a work wardrobe that is separate to my mummy uniform and more dressy. However, now that I have Daisy, my spending habits have changed dramatically – I don’t have tonnes of money to spend anymore on myself so I need clothing to work harder than ever before. The cardigan is a wardrobe classic that I’ve extolled the virtues of before now but the difference with the updated version that’s flooding the high street is it bridges the gap perfectly between work and play.
Teamed with a shirt or t-shirt underneath and smart trousers for the office, it also functions as a great alternative to a blazer. Recently I was very kindly gifted this cream one from New Look and I’ve worn it to death ever since. And if you follow my instagram you’ll see I was fortunate enough to snap up the grey M&S cardigan that has been extremely popular which I’ve worn equally as much.
I’ve put together my edit of the best available now – enjoy!
