Mummy Style: The Cable Knit…

Happy 2018! I hope you had a wonderful break. We had a lovely time but as much as I’d like to say we had a relaxing one, a toddler and project kitchen prevented us from lazing about too much. The good news is the kitchen is nearly finished (hurrah) so I shall be sharing all the pictures and details on here very soon.

While I didn’t get much relaxing done, oddly enough I did find the time to over indulge – I am sure I’m not alone in doing so and now I couldn’t feel less New Year New Me if I tried (suffice to say I have avoided the scales out of fear). But rather than promise to run 8 miles everyday and only consume green liquid for the foreseeable I choose chunky knitwear to cover the indulgence (oh and to stop eating quite as much as I have been over Christmas of course). No it’s not a new concept I grant you that but it certainly costs less than a gym membership that I won’t utilise and is far less torturous than starving myself…

Step forward the humble cable knit. If ever there was a time of year suited for this knit, the time is now in my opinion. The thick fisherman-inspired woollen wonder is the polar opposite of the sparkles that dominated December so is just what is needed to combat the comedown from Crimbo. From a practical point it’s also one of the hardier knits and can hold it’s own in the battle against mauling toddlers – which is naturally a bonus these days.

My fondness for red this winter naturally influenced one of the many reasons why I love this version from Debenhams. Adding some much needed colour back into my cheeks, featuring a high neck (covering up my chins) all while skimming over my unwanted lumps and bumps, this jumper is a welcome addition into my winter wardrobe.

You will also find me mostly wearing this classic cream version too that I was very kindly sent from the lovely team at La Redoute. I’d seen at their press day a few weeks earlier and it was love at first sight. One of the warmest items of clothing I own I wore it on Christmas Eve with a red lip, jeans and boots and is so chunky I struggled to get a coat on over it!

If you are planning on styling out the overindulgence for the rest of this month like me I have cherry picked my favourites that are available now. The good news is most of them are in the sale but the bad news is some have sold out at lightning speed I’m afraid. But fear not, I have linked to alternatives…
