Preparing for the birth of your baby is both an exciting and daunting task. There’s plenty of helpful information out there on what to buy and where to buy it from but therein lies the problem, if anything there’s possibly too much out there and the pressure to pick the right tools for the job is intense – and let’s not forget the cost of it all too!
So faced with the list as long as my arm before Daisy came and no previous experience I did what any first time mummy to be would do, I armed myself with as much as I could so much so our home looked like a baby shop depot! Fortunately Daisy fitted the correct size clothing but given that newborn pieces are measured on weight I didn’t even have a clue which size to buy before she arrived so I chose based on the midwife’s guesstimates! Nearly 18 months on I can safely say there were some items on that list I really did not need or use but the power of hindsight is a wonderful thing as they say…
However, if someone had offered me the chance to buy a box complete with the basics I would need in those early days I would have jumped at the chance which is exactly what mattress brand Eve has done with the launch of their Babybox landing this month exclusively at Mothercare. The ideal gift for any confused, overwhelmed expectant parents, the babybox – originally a Finnish tradition – is a large box that doubles up as a sleeping space for your baby filled with all the essential items. Even though it comes too late for me this concept hugely appeals to my hyper-organised tendencies!
The box even comes complete with a mini mattress created by the clever sleep experts at Eve – perfect for daytime naps. And if you had any concerns that a box might not sound very cosy or pretty, artist Clifford Richards has illustrated two designs, flora and fauna to choose from.
What’s In The Box:
1x Jersey fitted crib sheets (2 pack)
1x Cellular blanket
1x Mothercare muslins (3 pack)
1x Sleep safe tips
1x Dribbler (2 pack)
1x Pack water wipes
1x Crib mattress
1x White bodysuits
1x White sleepsuit
1x White hat
1x White cuddle and dry
1x Bear blanket
Coming in at £95 which is around the same cost as a Moses basket it is great value for money not to mention how much it will save you in panic buying costs. Most importantly this genius box will buy you some precious time to decide what you do need while you enjoy your new addition.
Now if only those sleep experts could also work out how to get a baby to sleep through the night too…
