Bringing the Outside In…

by

As my obsession with flora and fauna has grown, a recent visit to the hidden gem that is H&M’s home department lead to an excellent and affordable discovery for our grey living room…

The hunt for the perfect cushions to adorn our grey sofa and work with our living room (and a baby) has been ongoing for quite sometime. If I’m honest, even as a huge fan of neutral shades I had decided that the room needed some colour and one of the many reasons to love grey (I have plenty) is that it is a perfect background colour for bright shades to really zing against.

I’m not alone in my love for the tropical leaf print, it’s been having a definite moment this year alongside the cactus/succulent love-in and it’s not hard to see why. Greenery, be it real or fake, is a subtle yet easy way to introduce colour into a room without committing to it forever. A leafy print can look fresh as well as modern.

Made from hardworking canvas and featuring such a bold print, these cushions have certainly injected some colour into my living room. They are so far coping well with a teething and nearly crawling 8 month old and go alongside the La Redoute cushion I also purchased a few weeks ago (see previous post here). It’s fair to say they are a worthwhile investment given they cost less than £25 including the cushion pads.

Top Tip: Instead of using just one cushion inner that can sometimes leave your cushions limp, with a bit of elbow grease I put two from Ikea in each case to create a really plump bolstered cushion.

As well as the cushion covers, in store I came over somewhat creative and picked up curtains in the same print. In the spirit of upcycling I have plans with them and a footstool I was given when we moved in. When I decide to get bold with a staple gun and scissors I shall share the finished article. Watch this space and wish me luck…
