Sick of the undecided weather? Me too and it’s probably nothing new that us Brits let the weather dominate our conversations a lot more then we should but a recent mummy group Whatsapp chat about it actually spurned the reason for this post – the rain.
I have a confession to make, I originally wrote this post a week or so ago when the weather was dismal and wet but ever since it’s been warm(ish) and dry (typical) so I have held it back. However, wet weather aside, Daisy has needed a thin coat coat to take off the chill in the mornings and practical shoes to ward off the mud and dirt she so often finds – especially now that she’s insisting on walking more (while I dawdle along behind her with the buggy she so often refuses to get in). I wasn’t alone in my thinking and the group chat led us all to the same point, finding the perfect coat and welly combo that not only looks lovely but can also withstand the heavy hand of a toddler. Added to which, within the circle, I am the only one with a girl but contrary to what I was seeing on offer I didn’t naturally want glitter and unicorns and nor did my friends want dinosaurs and trucks for their boys either. So the question was where were the nice raincoats and wellies hiding…?
Now fortunately I had bought Daisy’s raincoat a while back in the sale when it was two sizes too big for her (yes I am that parent) but she was in need of some wellies so taking up the challenge I began to wildly search the options available and finally bought Daisy her first pair from Aldi of all places. Happily for me the infamous middle aisle of the supermarket last week was all about clothing so I made a beeline for my local and snapped up the penguin pair (as did another mummy mate) before 10am on Thursday last week.
Now sadly, Aldi is like the Primark of supermarkets and if you don’t buy it when it lands in store the likelihood is it won’t be there for long I’m afraid so by way of an apology I have put together my favourite wet weather wonders that are available now…
